Well that was fun !
I went to my first drinks at the Polly Bar last night and had a great time. I was a bit nervous and shy at first and not because it was a poly event. I just get shy at social events where I don’t know anyone. Yes, the guy with bright green hair gets shy. I can get up on stage in front of hundreds of people, strike up a conversation with anyone at the supermarket, chair a meeting, yet totally freeze up at a bar. Go figure.
The reason I’m pointing out I’m shy is when I say I had a great time and everyone was friendly, I don’t want the other shy or nervous people to think; ‘Yeah but Mr Green would find any party fun and easy…’
So anyway, I was greeted at the entrance by Simon, (? I think -lack of name recall and shyness are linked) and made to feel very welcome. The venue is lovely, the cocktails are a work of art. I highly recommend the “lemon meringue”.
The most memorable things were the variety of people, hair colour haha, and how open and friendly people were. Without the creepy sleazy factor you get at a normal bar.
If you are, don’t hesitate. You will have an amazing night. My only regret was not asking one sweet girl I chatted to for ages if she would like to catch up again. (that bloody shyness thing. Arrrg! )
Look forward to seeing you all at the next one…. and make sure you go and talk to the shy guy with the green hair at the bar.
